Thanks to the amazing mod, Exact Audio Copy, you can now listen to your own personal modified versions of Skyrim without having to use the Nexus network. The issue is that sometimes you might want to listen to a sound effect outside of Skyrim or even make backup copies of sounds before you make changes. This article will show how-to fix this problem. This problem can be fixed by first opening up an audio file with EAC. After the file opens up in EAC’s program interface, select all of the files that are in it then right click on them and select ‘Copy as New Folder’. Create a folder in your Skyrim directory and name it ‘Sound Effects’. If you do not already have the Skyrim main folder, go to that directory and right click on the Skyrim directory and select ‘New Folder’. Take the sounds you wish to backup out of the Nexus files and place them in this new folder you created unless you want to keep them in there with your current sound changes. Then press ‘OK’ when prompted. Now open up EAC again and select the newly created sound effects folder from which you backed up all of your sounds from. Choose ‘Replace Selected Items’ from EAC’s menu options. Now open up the Nexus files for Skyrim and select your sound effect. Don’t replace the same file with another one in this step. Keep your current audio file intact in case you need to change it later down the line. After selecting your sound effect, EAC will locate all of the sound clips associated with that particular sound effect. It will then display the number of files in this folder, whether it is a single file or multiple files within a folder. Press ‘OK’ when prompted next to each file found in the Nexus files that represents that particular sound effect that you are replacing in this step. Finally, right click on the file within your newly created sound effects folder and select ‘Rename’. Call it something like All_Sounds_BlackBox_RegularSetup instead of the original file name that you chose to replace it with. Again, keep this file intact in case you need to change it later down the line. Now that you have replaced the black box sound effects with your own modified versions inside of your Skyrim folder, go onto Skyrim’s audio settings page and click on ‘scripts’. Open up EAC again and open the sound effects folder which you placed all of your files in earlier along with any files within their sub-folders (such as voices.ogg). Select all text within the EAC window. Right click on the folder that you wish to replace and select ‘Replace Selected Items’. Select your new text (and the sub-folders if applicable) and it will save it into that particular folder. When naming each sound effect, you should rename it to the original file name that is in your Nexus files with an added _BlackBox or something similar before its original name. So, say there is a sound effect called WeaponHitWood_Bow_STAFF_1H (its actual file name in game). Rename it to WeaponHitWood_Bow_STAFF_1H _BlackBox. cfa1e77820
